At the University of Ottawa, woodwind and brass students have the opportunity to develop their full potential both as performers on their respective instruments and as trained musicians. The outstanding faculty comprises performers and teachers of national recognition, many of whom are members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Performance opportunities include the University of Ottawa Orchestra, Concert Wind Ensemble, small instrumental ensembles and mixed chamber groups.

Audition requirements
Undergraduate candidates should prepare:
- two pieces or contrasting movements from a large work, minimum level RCMT Grade VIII or equivalent;
- technical study;
- scales: major, minor and chromatic;
- sight-reading
For graduate candidates, the audition should consist of around forty-five minutes of music, and must include at least three works from different style periods.
